Chemical Operator Job Description:

Aerotek seeks a qualified chemical operator for a company in Athens for an indefinite contract. They are seeking a Chemical Process Operator to carry out objectives detailed in standard operating procedures in a safe and efficient manner while performing within compliance of safety, environmental and cGMP regulatory guidelines.
Primary duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- operating equipment to meet objectives detailed in standard operating procedures to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients.
- complying with cGMPs (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) as they apply to the manufacture of Bulk Pharmaceutical Chemicals and Medical Devices
- recognizing "abnormal" operating conditions and implement proper response including notification of supervision
- maintain cGMP working conditions including, but not limited to: process equipment, material transfer equipment, and the general operating area
- performing the proper disposal of spent materials, packaging materials, and other materials as instructed
- performing proper operation of process controls, Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment as detailed in various procedures; conducting in-process testing using specialized equipment and reagents as specified in standard operating procedures
- must be able to work outdoors - properly garbed - to accomplish specific functions such as in the tank farm (chemical storage), utilities building, storage building, etc. - as assigned by supervision
- must be able to keep up-to-date on process alterations and general procedures by reading logs, special procedures and posted notices
- this position will be required to report process equipment and material status as specified in standard operating procedures and by supervision
- must be able to move materials of varying weights in a manner that is within established safety guidelines, while utilizing material handling equipment and other operator assistance as needed
- coordinate process operations to ensure efficiency
- complete training programs as requested by supervision and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED (Associates or Bachelors degree a plus) with experience in a manufacturing environment required. Work experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or GMP regulated manufacturing environment preferred. All manufacturing plants require the ability to work rotating shifts and overtime hours when required. Ability to use and read measuring devices and enter data into MRP systems (SAP preferred) and other databases is required. Must have the ability to work from ladders or platforms up to 30 feet in the air and the ability to lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds. Must be able to qualify for respiratory protective equipment use. Experience with reactors, centrifuges, dryers, mills, and other chemical equipment preferred.
